Christmas Deer Wall Art

Christmas Deer Wall Art

I’m always on the lookout for a little bit of Christmas “magic”. I make an effort to notice and remember the special moments that define the holiday and separate each year from the next. I experienced my first bit of holiday magic this year when a young buck wandered across my backyard while I was making coffee one morning. The sun was just rising and the first snowfall of the season had left a soft blanket of white covering the grass. It was one of those mornings that seemed almost dream-like. Just when I finished stirring my coffee, I looked up and noticed the beautiful deer through the window.

I don’t know if he could hear me as I watched him and gasped, but he raised his head, looked straight at me, and seemed to smile. He looked so graceful and beautiful, I instantly wanted to capture his sweet face in paint!

According to universeofsymbolism.com, “Deer are among the gentlest of creatures, with big soft eyes conveying the energy of innocence, deer remind us of our own innocence and the fundamental need and desire to be nurtured and protected. The gentle deer brings harm to no one and is a symbol of true peace on Earth.” Perfect!

Every year when I decorate for Christmas and see this deer’s comforting face, it will bring to mind this story, and the symbolism of the gentle deer.

I was able to get the painting done (just barely) in time to create these special Christmas decorations and list them in my shop this year so you can enjoy his sweet face in your home, too.

I’m offering these in two sizes:

  1. 1) a larger 7″ round (7″ x 10″ overall) size designed to hang on the wall. (Pro tip: the round size makes a great addition to a holiday gallery wall!)
  2. 2) and a 4″ round (4″ x 6″ overall) size as a small ornament for your tree. You can find both sizes here.

Have you been blessed with any holiday magic yet this year? If you have, please share your story with me in the comments below and have the very merriest Christmas!
